9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament (Copy)

We are very excited to announce that this year’s tournament will again be at Red Tail Golf Club. Shotgun start at 9:00am on April 03, 2023. This will be our second tournament with them and we’re excited to foster this new relationship. Bring your A game and plan to stay the weekend just before the tournament if you can.

Since our creation in 2011, The N.O.W. Matters More Foundation has contributed to the recovery and treatment for many mothers, daughters, sons and fathers struggling with the disease of addiction. Our efforts include providing scholarships for detox, treatment, and counseling to those in need of recovery. We also provide advocacy and support for those who have been affected by addiction, and work towards awareness and prevention in our local communities.

This is a battle worth fighting, but it requires support on many levels. Our hope is that you will join us in this fight to change lives by being a part of our 9th annual golf tournament, which is a pivotal event in our fundraising throughout the year.

The Hope-a-Thon & Virtual Walk

The Hope-a-thon & Virtual Recovery Walk 2020.

11.14.20

Midnight to midnight

24 hours of hope because we DO recover

thehopeathon.com

Brought to you by The N.O.W. Matters More Foundation in cooperation with the Orange County Drug Free Office, in an effort to expand awareness that recovery and remission is possible and to support local community charities that help people recover from addictions.

The Hope-a-thon goes from midnight to midnight. The entire day of November 14, 2020 will be dedicated to this event and will be considered End Dependence Day. It is hosted by Lui Delgado, aka the dope doctor from The Couch Live radio show/podcast, founder of The N.O.W. Matters More Foundation, and in remission from addiction for 31 years.

It will be live streamed on multiple media platforms directly from home base in Orange County Florida. We will have musical guests, celebrities, sport figures, influencers, and talented participants from all over the globe join the broadcast.

We will also have individuals and families that prove that recovery is possible by sharing their own stories of victories. There will be videos in memory of those that passed while in recovery to show their victories. Every 12 step room around the world has people like this that may have hurt those close to them during their using days, but also helped save so many when they came into the rooms of recovery.

This is not a memorial for those that died from the disease of addiction, but instead a celebration for those that died with the disease of addiction. All to often those of us that have suffered with addiction are represented on tv and movies by those still hurting, hurting others, or dying tragically.

We feel that its time to show that millions of us are in remission, living as good fathers, mothers, doctors, lawyers, entertainers, and friends just to name a few. Our tragedies may inspire concern, but our stories inspire hope.

We will be asking for donations to help fund pre-selected and fully vetted charities that help people recover from addictions every day. We will be using live and recovered content throughout the day to help everyone understand these organizations better so they can know where their money is going and for what. All of it.

We have friends all over the country that share our mission and vision and will expand our guest list on our website as they commit.

At 8am EST the Virtual Recovery Walk will begin. Due to Covid-19 so many recovery walks have been cancelled or done differntly. This is our way of still doing it. We will be asking before and after that people send in video content of them walking their way and from wherever they are. Our team will be at Lake Eola in Orlando, Florida. Teams of walkers will be able to sign up for free on the website.

So how can you participate? That is completely up to you. You can be live in studio, remotely, or recorded video. Should you choose recorded video here is an example of what we would like you to say:

Hi Lui and everyone watching its _________________ here from __________________. I am currently in _________________ and happy to be part of The Hope-a-Thon & Virtual Recovery Walk 2020. I chose to participate in this years Hope-a-thon because ________________________.(at this point you can speak your message of hope and perform if you are an artist of any type) Please remember to share this stream with everyone you know. Everyone knows someone suffering and this could be just what they need today to make that call. Please visit thehopeathon.com to help us reach our financial goals so that more people can get the help they need. Thank you. Back to you in the studio Lui….time for me to walk. (then walk your way however you wish and cut)

These videos will be played through the 24 hour period multiple times and portions may be edited together as part of a larger video.

Should you wish to be on live remote or in studio please call me at 407-721-5402 to discuss and schedule. Due to Covid 19 we are limiting in studio visits but may be able to accommodate depending upon request. Thank you once again and we look forward to seeing what you do.

Lui…

The Couch Live: On Campus- UCF Edition

On April 18th, the co-ed fraternity of Lambda Alpha Epsilon will sponsor our version of a Town Hall that we call The Couch Live: On Campus- UCF Edition.  The Couch Live will record their show outside the UCF Student Union.  The Host Lui Delgado, CAP, co-host Trinity Phillips, guest host and local therapist from Solace Counseling Aaron Moore, LMHC, and guest producer from Indie Jamz Elvy Natalia will interview students.  All too often we appear to speak to the younger generation warning them about the big bad wolves, dangers in the dark, and how they will one day understand, but not today.  Well definitely NOT TODAY, because we wanted to listen.  Listen to what they think about drugs, alcohol, addiction, and what we can do to better arm them with the information and resources to succeed though all that comes with it.  We want the truth, the way they see it.

Free pizza will be given to every student that LIKES The Couch Live Facebook page, thanks to the donation provided by the Orange County Drug Free Office.

The Couch Live can be heard Fridays from 12-1pm on www.WJHM102JAMZ.com and watched on Facebook Live by going to www.Facebook.com/TheCouchLive.  The show focuses on all issues related to addiction and recovery, and is sponsored in part by The N.O.W. Matters More Foundation.

The UCF counseling program will be available to assist anyone that may require immediate help or an appointment for further discussion.  The best thing is that they can get the help free and CONFIDENTIALLY.

The N.O.W. Matters More Foundation is also available to help anyone at UCF, or any other campus find the necessary help for them or someone they care about.  If you or someone you know would like to discuss a personal situation to know how to navigate the next step please do not hesitate to contact our own Founder and Host of The Couch Live, Lui Delgado at 407-721-5402.

Florida Surf Film Festival

Special thanks to Serenity Springs Recovery Center for promoting our new scholarship Surfers For Recovery this weekend at the Florida Surf Film Festival.  Red Dog Surf Shop has donated a Hypto Krypto surfboard and a $100 gift card to give away to some lucky winners that purchase raffle tickets at the SSRC table.  More prizes are available and all the proceeds will help scholarship someone into treatment and be blessed with the opportunity of winning the battle against the disease of addiction.

Come visit our booth at the Florida Surf Film Festival (FSFF)! The FLA Surf Film Fest, presented by Monster Energy, will be on November 18-19, 2016 located at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach.

Their mission is to invigorate surf culture through film appreciation and artistic expression by exhibiting contemporary films from filmmakers far and wide with surfing as a focus.
Serenity Springs Recovery Center is partnering with the FSFF to engage with the community to create new conversations about recovery. Our purpose is to remove the stigma surrounding the recovery process. Through compassion and dedication, we enable our clients to “stop recovering and recover”.

We are passionate about the surf culture through our surf program for our clients and are proud supporters of the arts. The surf community has been welcoming and supportive of our purpose and participating in the FSFF is a small way to say thank you.

Clients have the opportunity to go surfing twice per week at our local beaches. A feature that sets our treatment center apart is the ability to take clients on outings regularly to engage in activity based recovery.
We recognize that surfing is deeply moving and spiritual to many people. Clients often become more aware and connected to themselves and the ocean around them when they learn to surf. Surfing is one of our main avenues of connecting the mind, body, and spirit for recovery.

We invite you to attend the festival and to check out our booth that will feature games, program information and the chance to win a surfboard from Red Dog Surf Shop!

Visit www.floridasurffilmfestival.com for festival and ticket information.
